New Law Presented

According to this online article: http://www.alterpresse.org/spip.php?article13706, the proposed new adoption law was presented to the Haitian Senate on November 20th.  We do not have a final or approved version of the proposed new law, but the draft appears to have been written with great care and influence from IBESR.

This is a great step forward for Haiti and Hague compliance.

  1. Thank you thank you for this. Please post any more information as soon as possible. Do we know if the law passed or when it will go into effect? Thank you again for any more information you can provide.

  2. Hi Kimberly,

Will do! I do not know if the law was passed. There is no description of a vote occuring - merely a presentation. So we still don't know when/if this version will become law in Haiti.

  3. Is there any update on whether or not these laws have been voted on and approved?

  4. According to IBESR, all cases submitted prior to May 7, 2012 will be grandfathered under the old Haitian international.
    Is this correct.

  5. I am unfamiliar with any deadline with that date. We will have to wait and see if whatever draft of the new law is eventually adopted contains a 'grandfather' clause. At this point, nobody knows.
